About Attorney Evert

Attorney Evert grew up outside of Philadelphia and attended Columbia University, Barnard College, and the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree. She then went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1987 during which time she interned for the ACLU Miami and Women Against Violence in Pornography and the Media sparking her enthusiasm for aggressive advocacy for the underserved. 

As a full-time practicing attorney, Attorney Evert founded the American Mediation Institute (AMI) in 1992. AMI implemented civil and family mediation training classes in the U.S. Virgin Islands for attorneys and skilled business people. Almost all civil cases are now mediated before they may proceed to trial, and more than 75% of all civil and family cases settle in mediation before trial, saving the parties time and money. Though she sold AMI in 1998, it continues to be the largest mediation company in the USVI. Attorney Evert continues to work as a certified civil and family mediator and frequently obtains desired results for her clients in mediation. 

As a breast cancer survivor, patient advocacy and research are very close to Attorney Evert’s heart, and she avidly participates in fundraising and research. Most recently, Attorney Evert was selected to be a 2022 Alamo Breast Cancer Symposium Advocate and participated in Project LEAD. She is passionate about genomics and racial disparities in treatment and clinical studies.

As your attorney, Attorney Evert has a network of expert witnesses available to her, including forensic accountants, CPAs, liability experts, vocational experts, and economic experts. While her primary office is located in Charlotte Amalie, she is able to handle your case remotely from beginning to end. Attorney Evert is an International Academy of Family Lawyers fellow and has clients in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the United States, Canada, and across the globe.

Attorney Evert has a strong reputation with the Courts as an honest and sincere advocate. While Attorney Evert is extremely aggressive in litigation, she is also compassionate and empathetic with her clients, as clients are often seriously injured and/or anxious.
